Description
Perseus Energy 285 – Advanced Remote Energy Monitoring
The Perseus Energy 285 is a DIN rail-mounted LAN and LTE solution designed for remote energy monitoring and control. It features an M-Bus Master for seamless integration with external sensors and meters.
Key Features
- Connect External Sensors & Meters
Supports physical sensors for temperature (°C), humidity (%RH), current (A), voltage (V), as well as detectors (relay/dry contact) and Water Leak Detection (WLD) cables. Third-party sensors and meters can be connected via LAN or Modbus RTU. - Reliable LTE Backup
If the Ethernet connection fails, built-in LTE backup connectivity ensures uninterrupted operation. - Smart Data Collection & Processing
The device integrates data from connected sensors and meters, as well as from other HWg devices via LAN. Local conditions, Lua scripting, and scheduling options allow for in-depth data analysis. - Instant Alerts & Notifications
Alerts can be sent via SMS, phone call, email, or SNMP Trap when pre-set thresholds are exceeded. - Open API Compatibility
Measured data is accessible through XML, Modbus TCP, and MQTT for easy integration into existing monitoring systems.
Integration with SensDesk Portal
The Perseus Energy 285 can be connected to the SensDesk Portal, creating a powerful solution for professional applications.
One standout feature of Perseus products is the Meters Open API, enabling the device to retrieve sensor values from other LAN-connected devices (e.g. STE2 R2) for further analysis and alerting.
Built-in LTE Modem
The built-in LTE modem serves as:
- An SMS gateway for the Perseus unit and other connected HW Group devices.
- A backup connection to the SensDesk Portal in case of network failure.
Comprehensive Connectivity & Inputs
The Perseus Energy 285 supports up to 100 external meters and can process 1,000 variables from connected sensors.
Within one compact DIN rail unit, the device includes:
6× 1W-UNI (RJ11) ports
4× Digital Inputs (DI) with S0 pulse counters
1× RS-485 (Modbus RTU) interface
1× WLD (Water Leak Detection) input
1× M-Bus Master input
2× Digital Outputs (DO) with relay control
🔌 Power supply: The Perseus Energy 285 must be powered from 230V.

Advanced Monitoring & Automation
Thanks to the RS-485, M-Bus Master, and Modbus RTU Meters Open API, the device can read data from third-party electricity, gas, and water meters, UPS systems, and air conditioning units.
It also supports automated control of relay outputs, allowing integration with air conditioning, ventilation, security doors, and other automated systems.
Typical Applications
✔️ Remote monitoring of sensors and meters
✔️ Technical room supervision
✔️ Boiler room equipment tracking
✔️ Industrial machine monitoring
✔️ Greenhouse, food storage & pharmaceutical warehouse monitoring
✔️ Infrastructure monitoring
Intelligent Alerts & Remote Access
- Flexible Alerting: From simple high-temperature warnings to advanced alerts (e.g., “2 out of 5 sensors have exceeded their threshold or are unresponsive”).
- Mobile App Access: View real-time sensor and meter data via LAN or SensDesk.com.
- Power Failure Notifications: The internal LTE modem can notify the Portal in case of a power outage via email or SMS, ensuring rapid response.
The Perseus Energy 285 is a robust, scalable, and intelligent monitoring solution for critical environments.
