Room Alert Security

Security is a critical component in every business continuity plan. That is why Room Alert products offer the latest in security features, and why as a company AVTECH has several security measures and policies in place to protect both staff as well as customers around the world.

Room Alert Security Features

Room Alert PRO monitors offer a wide range of security features that help keep customers data and networks protected. With so many industries and organizations adopting a “Shields Up” stance Room Alert monitors aim to be some of the most secure appliances on your network. Government, military, healthcare, banking and finance, education and more are understandably concerned with ensuring network and data security.

All Room Alert PRO monitors offer the following security and data privacy features:

  • 2048-bit encryption
  • SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3
  • HTTPS/SSL web interface
  • SSL/TLS email notifications
  • SSL push for data to reach the Room Alert Account online portal
  • Secure and advanced alerting via email, email-to-SMS, SNMP, JSON, HTTP Post, webpage update and more

These features are crucial for organizations that wish to follow security best practices such as DFARS, NIST SP 800-171 and ISO/IEC 27000.

Additionally, all Room Alert monitors use purpose built firmware that was developed and supported by the Engineering team at AVTECH. Room Alert firmware does not use common operating systems or “off the shelf” utilities that have the potential to be exploited by external factors. Room Alert runs very specific firmware that is designed to only provide the functions the devices need to monitor and report on environment factors.

Room Alert products are manufactured in certified facilities in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Nevada which qualifies Room Alert products for US government and military purchasing programs such as GSA and SEWP, as Room Alert is a fully TAA-compliant solution.

Room Alert Account, Room Alert Mobile App, and Room Alert Manager Security

There are a number of security features and options built into the popular online Room Alert Account dashboard and Room Alert app, as well as the locally downloadable Room Alert Manager software. These features include:

  • Multi-Factor Authentication
  • SAML Single Sign-On to help protect account access
  • Authenticated firmware updates
  • Defined user roles to protect company/user internal data
  • SSL push to Room Alert Account

AVTECH’s Corporate Security Policies

With customers in over 185 countries, AVTECH take security measures & precautions very seriously with an aim to protect corporate data and networks, as well as the data of customers.

AVTECH targets NIST 800-171 compliance for cybersecurity. This is important for all customers as it will ensure the safeguarding of confidentiality controlled, unclassified information, which is of particular interest to those in government, military, banking & finance.

When GDPR standards were introduced in the European Union, extensive research was taken into the requirements and all of AVTECH’s internal policies wre updated to ensure GDPR compliance.

Security and data privacy starts with employees, no matter the type or size of organization. Every AVTECH employee is required to undergo ongoing security training throughout the year so the team is cognizant of current potential threats, how to recognize them, and how to ensure data and networks remains secure.

An external security & data privacy management vendor is also used to audit AVTECH’s network, processes and policies in an ongoing manner to ensure accepted standards and certifications are met. It is  vital to maintain as secure a network as possible to protect staff and customer data from external threats.

Security is never a “set and forget” process for AVTECH with internal policies as well as Room Alert hardware and software, including the online Room Alert Account dashboard as well as the local Room Alert Manager software. You can rest assured that AVTECH continue to make security a priority and pledge to customers that they will always do their best to protect them in every way possible.
